I needed a camping spot near Glacier National Park and Whitefish State Park was the place that I chose. The park is small but is right on Whitefish lake. My campsite looks down towards the lake and is about 200 yards away. I am able to see the lake from the door of the van. This park has showers, pay but they have hot water! After going for 3 nights in Makoshika, one night on the road, and two in Beavertail I needed a shower. The three bucks for six minutes was a bargain so I purchased 3 showers and will enjoy all three of them! When I checked in the camphost stated that I needed to be careful with food and other products that smell as a cinnamon black bear was seen in the campground the day prior. Good thing I have bear spray with me. The lake is beautiful and there were very few people at the park or the lake very quiet. I did walk around the campground and out on to the road to see if I could get a photo of the train coming but no train when I was waiting. The trains did come quite often and they were tooting their horns all times of the day and night.
